Pentecost Cancelled!!!

No Pentecost celebration at least for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Corondolet, St. Louis Province---but no worries---thank goddess the Drum Circle is still on!

One ministry they seem very pleased with is their Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality. I just had to check out the offerings--- (as if I didn't know already what they would be!). We have two choices for this month "Creating Your Own Personal Prayer Labyrinth" and "Sacred Circle Dance, Meditation in Motion"

We also have these offerings from CJS in Minneapolis offers "Healing Touch" as a "Way to Pray - Reach out, Touch, Heal Someone" the leader says :

"Healing Touch is like centering prayer with a physical action.  When I become connected to the Mystery within and without, with the Sacred Energizer, I am in prayer."

The "Sacred Energizer"??? Anyone else picturing a BIG pink bunny with a drum?

Then we have "Drum Making and Playing"-- this type of prayer is described in part like this:

The drum is a new and life-giving being.  Your genetic ancestry and the ancestry of Mother Earth are in it.  It can be played with a beater or your fingers and hands, "swished", or filled with popcorn for a rattling or ocean sound.  Children intuitively love the drum.

Meditate with your drum, hear the heartbeat of all life, join others in a drumming circle, drum for peace, drum the angels and guardians around you, drum yourself into dance, drum your charkas of balance and healing, drum your daily medicine.  It's a great experience.Drummer_group

Understand the DRUM not God is the "life giving being"--- the DRUM also apparently is the answer to how to bring about World Peace--- And who in their right mind would not want to beat their chakras into balance????

Then there is this little ditty from CSJ's reflection from the first Sunday of Lent 2005:

I believe that can be found in the new story, the scientific evolutionary story of the universe now available to us. It opens us to a whole new way of SEEING, of coming to know who we are, where we are, how interconnected we are with all beings in the web of life, how our thoughts and actions affect others, even through our energy fields. It is time, I think, to eat of the tree of knowledge.

The Genesis Story was redeemed for me when I ate the apple. It was about 1980-81.. I was working at our Education Center in Mankato. Tired after a full day, I took an apple from our orchard –a BIG apple, crisp and juicy, and I sat on a log under a Maple tree. As I bit into this great apple -I paused; I am EATING EARTH! Yes, everything in this apple, everything I eat comes from Earth, is Earth. I AM EARTH. Now it was no longer just fact; it was an amazing TRUTH. I had at last eaten of the tree of knowledge, and oh, it was not just good apple, it was good knowledge. It led me to the new story the world was waiting for, the new creation story, to what for me is "truly life- giving. I am so grateful to be on this awesome adventure. (by Dorothy Olinger)

Yes folks these are Catholic religious sisters--- or at least they fancy themselves as such--- If it weren't for the rare mention of Jesus' name (actually it is Jesus/Sophia, Mother/Sophia, Spirit/Sophia the other trinity--- thank you very much!), the even more rare scripture quote ("inclusive" of course) and the "social justice" links you might think you stumbled into the Wiccan Womyn's Club.

I wish I could just laugh but having been there myself a little over a decade ago I know where this ultimately leads--- thank goodness I had enough sense to climb back out of my womb and deal with reality---

I was taught by the Sisters of Saint Joseph (Philadelphia, PA)as a child in Pennsylvania.

All I can say is that the nuns I knew would have kicked these yahoos to the curb, in a BIG hurry.

They would have said, "Prayer Labrynth??? Drum Circle??? Get your sinning self to Confession and say the Rosary!"

These people may be lots of things, but Catholic ain't one of them.
